What can be registered as a Design?

The following can receive protection:

  1.  A composition of lines or colours, any three-dimensional form, or any material, whether associated or not with lines or colours.
  2. A textile design where the composition, form or material gives a special appearance to a product of industry or handicraft and can serve as a pattern for a product of industry or handicraft.
  3. A new or original design, i.e., a design that differs significantly from known designs or combinations of known design features.

What cannot be registered as a Design?

The following cannot be registered as a design:

  1. A design that is not new.
  2. A design that is contrary to public order or morality.
  3. A design that does not meet the definition of a design as provided for by law.
