Dr Kwadwo Gyasi Ntrakwah is a senior Ghanaian legal practitioner, arbitrator, and corporate law specialist with over 19 years of experience advising clients on complex commercial, regulatory, and dispute matters. He heads the firm’s Climate Change & Sustainability and Arbitration practices.
He serves on the UNFCCC Article 6.4 Appeal and Grievance Roster of Experts — the panel attached to the crediting mechanism of the Paris Agreement supervised by the Article 6.4 Supervisory Body — a four-year term from September 2025 and a distinction rare among legal practitioners anywhere. It places him at the intersection of international climate law, market integrity and dispute resolution, and informs his advisory work on carbon transactions.
Dr Ntrakwah’s practice spans carbon markets and Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, climate and sustainable finance, corporate and commercial law, mergers and acquisitions, and international arbitration. On the climate side, he advises project developers, buyers and intermediaries on the structuring, due diligence, drafting and negotiation of carbon market transactions — including the restructuring of emission reduction purchase agreements, mitigation outcome purchase agreements, REDD+ / forestry initiatives and Article 6.2 cooperative approaches. On the corporate side, he has advised on joint ventures, public-private partnerships and cross-border investments across banking and finance, oil and gas, telecommunications, agribusiness and real estate.
Dual-qualified and internationally trained, he was called to the Bar of England and Wales (Middle Temple) and to the Ghana Bar. He holds a PhD in Sustainable Development and Diplomacy, with empirical research on climate finance access for SMEs in Ghana, introducing the Climate Finance Empowerment Framework (CFEF). He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), Faculty Leader and lecturer in Company and Commercial Practice at the Ghana School of Law, and a former Director of Meritas, the global alliance of independent law firms.
